About Us

Hello, hello – and thank you for visiting the Diabetes Diet website. We hope you have found (and will continue to find, as we have every faith in you signing up for our email notification service – and thanks if you do) our website interesting.

We are two Scottish ladies who joined forces to write and publish a book last year about diabetes, dieting and managing your medications (and you can buy the book here). We want to make you healthy and happy. If you do have diabetes (type 1 or type 2) this book and the information you find on this website will be invaluable. If you don’t have diabetes, then follow our recommendations to keep that as your status quo!

Anyway, that aside here is the crucial about us info…

Dr Katharine Morrison is a practising GP and a senior partner in an Ayrshire medical practice. Following the diagnosis of her son with type 1 diabetes 10 years ago, she has worked extensively with diabetics (both type 1 and type 2) to help them achieve good blood sugar control – a vital component in good health and longevity. She is also the author and co-author of a number of medical papers on diabetes and the strategies that can help minimise its impact on health. Course website is www.dsolve.com

Emma Baird is a freelance writer, and the author of a number of health and diet books available on Amazon. She is also the author of the young adult/children’s adventure story, Katie and the Deelans, published by Comely Bank Publishing, which will be launched early next year (2015).

To make a living (seeing as writing books isn’t always the best way to guarantee income…) Emma writes regular blogs, articles, newsletters and other e-books for a wide variety of clients. Her website is: www.jetcomms.com

  1. Please feel free to Reblog the the review of Chronic Christmas, or any other items from RADiabetes. You are always welcome to do so. And thanks for thinking that highly of the review. The book is wonderful.

      1. Hi Scottish ladies,
I’m a TD1 33 years and I am writing to ask about the possibility of a consultation. I’ve been following a strict low carb diet for 1 year with excellent results for my hba1c (33 mmol). It would be great to speak with a Dr who advocates this approach for type 1 as they are few and far between. I need some help interpreting cholesterol numbers. Thanks,

  3. Dear Maree,
I see patients at my home in Mauchline but this may well be inconvenient for you. If you post your total cholesterol, HDL and triglyceride results here I can give you some information. You could also undertake the Qrisk2 calculations yourself. This is readily available if you google it. Well done on your excellent blood sugar control.
